Timothy Caulfield, PhD, is tremendously well placed to write about this topic. As a Canada Research Chair in Health Law and Policy, he has spent almost two decades analyzing science issues and has had the opportunity to be involved in science and health policy decisions related to almost all the topics addressed in this book. He sits on numerous international committees – such as the policy entities for the International Society for Stem Cell Research and the American Society of Human Genetics. He leads several large, interdisciplinary, research projects, including initiatives that focus on stem cell research, human genetics, obesity and the control of chronic disease. He has authored close to 200 peer reviewed articles, published in the world’s top science journals (e.g., Science, Cell, Lancet, Nature Biotechnology), won numerous academic awards, written for and has worked closely with the popular press.
