Damian Tarnopolsky was born in London. He studied literature at the University of Toronto and Oxford University, and writing with Mavis Gallant at the Humber School for Writers. His first book, Lanzmann and Other Stories (2006), was nominated for the ReLit Award and praised for its “authority, Nabokovian play and bawdiness.” The Globe and Mail said that “Tarnopolsky often writes like a dazzling fallen angel.” The story “Sleepy” was nominated for the Journey Prize and anthologized in The Journey Prize Stories 18, and “You Guys” was nominated for the 2007 CBC Literary Award. Goya’s Dog is his first novel.
