Michael Crummey was awarded the Writers' Trust of Canada's Timothy Findley Award at the Writers' Trust gala on Tuesday evening. The $15,000.00 award is given annually to a male writer at mid-career, in honour of the late Timothy Findley.

Among the finalists, Shaena Lambert's Radiance for the Ethel Wilson Fiction Prize, as well as J.B. MacKinnon and Alisa Smith's 100 Mile Diet for the Hubert Evan's Non-Fiction prize and the Roderick Haig-Brown Regional Prize. The winners will be announced Arpil 26th. Shaena Lambert's debut novel Radiance is a finalist for the 2007 Rogers Writers' Trust Fiction Prize. The other nominees are M.G. Vassanji, Lawrence Hill, Robert Hough and Nancy Huston. See Writers' Trust of Canada.

We are pleased to announce that a film option for Camilla Gibb's SWEETNESS IN THE BELLY has been sold to Naomi Despres at Giant Door Productions. Naomi and her L.A. based production company have been responsible for such films as 21 Grams and Winged Creatures. They are currently in talks with Ian Iqbal Rashid, whose film How She Move has just been released,  to write and direct.
