Anne McDermid & Associates - About

Anne McDermid founded this agency in Toronto in January 1996. She had previously been a senior partner in the distinguished British agency Curtis Brown for several years. In 2010, Chris Bucci and Martha Webb became Directors in the agency, and in 2012 joined Anne as full partners. Associate agent Monica Pacheco joined the agency in 2008.
The agency represents literary novelists and commercial novelists of high quality, and also writers of non-fiction in the areas of memoir, biography, history, literary travel, narrative science, investigative journalism, popular culture and lifestyle. We also represent a certain number of children's and YA writers and writers in the fields of science fiction and fantasy. We are a full service agency and are active in advising our clients in advancing their careers through all forms of digital media, as well as through traditional methods of publishing and promotion.
Our writers have been nominees and winners of many literary prizes including the Man Booker Prize, the Giller Prize, the Governor General’s Award, the Writers Trust awards, the Charles Taylor Prize for narrative non-fiction, the Orange Prize, the Danuta Gleed Award, and the Commonwealth Prize.
We sell Canadian and American rights directly. We use the UK-based agency Rogers, Coleridge and White for UK and translation rights. We also use associates for film and television rights in Canada and internationally.
